With views of Holy Island of Lindisfarne, this blue and white hut in the grounds of an old church is the perfect place to curl up together after a day of coastal adventures.

They’ve taken full advantage of the sea views with huge windows and a garden bench looking straight onto the waves of Druridge Bay. You can lie in bed watching the water and light the wood burner for cosy nights in.

Ten miles north-west of the historic city of Durham, the Stables is a flawlessly-decorated cottage in a charming hamlet. There’s a garden overlooking the magnificent rolling fields of County Durham, making it the perfect place to get away from it all. From here, you can visit Durham, Newcastle and even Beamish Museum, which is just 20 minutes drive away.
