August 2017 Favourites

Hi loves, I’ve been crazy busy this month with two back-to-back press trips (lots of fun posts about my time in Basel and Vorarlberg coming soon), but I wanted to pause to put together a little rundown of the new beauty products, books and interior bits I’ve loved this month. Hope you like!

My August faves

BareMinerals Mix Exfoliate Smooth

BareMinerals mix exfoliate smooth review

When I opened this I wasn’t even sure what it was, but now these add-to-cleanser exfoliating grains are one of my new skincare faves. You sprinkle a teeny tiny amount of the granules onto your palm and mix with a dollop of whichever cleanser you use – I’ve been pairing them with my trusty La Roche Posay face wash – and massage into your face. The granules are super fine and my face feels lovely afterwards.

New makeup and brushes

LAROC makeup

I was gifted a box of beauty products by Just My Look, and discovered a few new faves – the best being the Real Techniques makeup brushes, Sleek highlighting palette and ‘make me matte’ lipstick mattifier from Saturated Colour. I tried it over a glossy red Clinique lipstick and it actually works. You do have to wipe the excess lipstick off the mattifying stick as you go, but I was happy with the results.

Wall prints

Considering I’m the most indecisive, fussy person in the UK when it comes to home accessories, I’m thrilled that I finally managed to find some art that I actually love for the wall above our couch. I have a little living room interiors guide going live next week with a discount code for the online store, so keep an eye out for that.

Right Guard Pink Jasmine Shower Gel

Right Guard Shower gel

I never thought I’d be raving about a mundane shower gel but oh my god, this stuff smells SO much like Daisy by Marc Jacobs that I stopped dead in the shower the first time I used it and looked around, wondering how I’d suddenly been transported back to 2015. It must be the jasmine, and it’s delightful.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

Like everyone I tuned in to Big Little Lies when it was hailed as the new Desperate Housewives, but unlike everyone else it seems, I was left disappointed. Should’ve known that nothing will ever be as good as DH in my eyes, even if it does have Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman in the line-up. I never watched the last episode, but I did pick up the novel in a charity shop at the beginning of the month. It’s a great, light-hearted read, full of wit at the most unexpected moments.
